Backup Light White lights on the rear of a vehicle that indicate to other traffic that a vehicle is in reverse, and also to provide light for backup up at night.

Battery A large, heavy box, normally under the hood at the front of a vehicle, the battery can be identified by two or more thick electrical cables that run up to the side or top. Provides electrical power for starting or when the car isn't running.

Bed (Pickup) The open portion of the pickup body behind the cab, used for hauling larger loads that won't fit inside the open space of a car.

Bell Housing The bell shaped part that connects the transmission to the engine. It also houses the clutch on vehicles equipped with standard transmissions, or the torque converter on vehicles with automatic transmissions.

Belt Tensioner A pulley that is mounted toward the center of a long belt, a belt tensioner is used to tighten or loosen the belt. It may require tools to adjust periodically, or it may be spring-loaded.

Blower Motor The fan motor for your heater, air conditioner, and defroster. The blower motor is normally mounted behind the dashboard.

Body Control Module (BCM) The BCM controls much of the driver's interface with the vehicle. In many cars it operates the headlights and turn signals, and drives the speedometer and tachometer displays. Normally located either under the dash or under the hood attached to the firewall.

Brake Booster Takes input from the driver's pressure on the brake pedal and amplifies it to increase pressure on the brakes. It is mounted on the back of the brake master cylinder, which is on the driver's side firewall, under the hood.

Bumper Assembly (Front) The foremost part of the car, it absorbs the impact in a front collision. The bumper itself is most often a pressed sheet metal panel, though it can be made of other impact absorbing materials. The entire bumper assembly will consist of the bumper itself, the decorative covering, valance panels to help it blend in with the lines of the vehicle, and the bumper shock absorbers.
